Biblical Hebrew 101 course will teach the letters of the Aleph-Bet, introductory reading, writing, vocabulary, and sentences using words found in bible scripture in a manner that is easy to follow and understand. Instruction of the vowels (nikkud) will be interwoven within the lessons as a natural progression that makes them easy to understand and learn. Assignments will flow with the pace of the lessons and include word games to keep the learning fun and language practice utilizing bible passages in Hebrew. Biblical Hebrew Grammar Intermediate Level 1 will provide the student with a basic grasp of Hebrew grammar in the Pa’al Stem (Simple (Qal) action, active voice). There will be a study word forms, sentence structure, and continued building of biblical vocabulary while incorporating the vocabulary introduced in the Biblical Hebrew 101 course. Students will learn to parse and translate verbal word forms as well as to read and translate biblical Hebrew text. Pre-requisite is successful completion of Biblical Hebrew 101 or Instructor Approval.
Biblical Hebrew Grammar Advances will provide the student with an advanced grasp of Hebrew grammar in the remaining 5 Hebrew Stems:
- Niphal – Simple action, passive voice
- Pual – Intensive action, passive voice
- Hiphil – Causal action, active voice
- Hitpael – Intensive action, reflexive
- Huphal – Causal action, passive voice
There will be a study word forms, sentence structure, and continued building of biblical vocabulary. Students will learn to parse and translate verbal word forms as well as to read and translate biblical Hebrew text. Pre-requisite is successful completion of Biblical Hebrew Intermediate Levels with Pa’al and Piel Stems or Instructor Approval.
